Trek Kicks Off In June, Presented By Ford F-Series

(NASHVILLE, Tenn.) One of the top touring draws of his era, Toby Keith is preparing to put the hammer down on a new tour called, appropriately, the Hammer Down Tour. Presented by longtime partner Ford F-Series, the run begins on June 8 in Ozark, AR.

High-profile stops include Chicago, Washington DC, and Sturgis Buffalo Chip. Prior to the start of the tour, Toby will be headlining the San Antonio Stock Show & Rodeo, Houston Livestock Show & Rodeo, a night at the four-day festival Country Thunder in Florence, AZ, and a night at the blockbuster Stagecoach festival in Indio, CA. Forbes' 2012 top-earning country artist thanks in no small part to his standing-room-only tours, Toby takes to the road again with dates set through September. Joining him on this party is special guest Kip Moore.

Touring in support of his current album Hope On The Rocks, Keith will bring his acclaimed live show and its breakneck set list of hits, not the least of which is the album's title track single, "Hope On The Rocks." Like most of his crowded stable of smashes, the song was written by the man himself.

Toby Keith remains the primary creative force behind a remarkable career that, in 2012, reached new milestones: His "Red Solo Cup" certified itself as the biggest viral event in country music history. His 10th annual USO Tour again brought him to international hotspots to boost the morale of America's fighting men and women.

Nashville, TN— Feb. 1, 2013— MCA recording artist Kip Moore is continuing his streak of sold-out shows selling almost 2,500 tickets for his March 23 stop in Boston, MA at House of Blues in just 20 minutes this morning. The show follows previous sold-out dates already this year in Norfolk, VA, Raleigh, NC, Athens, GA, Nashville, TN, Starkville, MS and upcoming Grand Rapids, MI.

 Kip Moore’s single “Somethin’ ‘Bout a Truck,” which was a two-week No. 1 hit, has been certified platinum for sales of 1 million units.

“I can’t wrap my head around platinum,” Moore says. “I had a hard enough time wrapping my head around gold, so there’s no way I can wrap my head around platinum. It’s something that every writer and artist dreams to be a part of, something that is working like this.

“It was validation for me that I was smart to stick to my guns and believe in myself all those years when it looked like nothing was happening. So often I wanted to cash in my chips and say, ‘At least I played,’ but I kept grinding and kept writing and writing and writing and kept believing that at some point it was going to work. So it’s a grateful moment to me that I kept my faith.”

Earlier this month, he released his new single, “Beer Money,” and will perform its national television debut on Conan on TBS on Tuesday, July 17.

“Conan is so special for me because when my sister was in her car accident and in the hospital for seven months, Conan was one of the few people who could make her smile,” he says. “She thinks he is so funny and so do I. I have always been such a fan of the show and him as a person. It’s definitely amazing to get to play on national TV with that many people watching, and I am so glad that this is the first late-night show I am playing.”

Moore has been touring extensively, performing his own shows and joining Billy Currington and David Nail on the road. He will join Eric Church’s The Blood, Sweat & Beers Tour in the fall. Kip Moore Releases New Single, “Beer Money,” on July 9

Will Perform on NBC’s Today on July 4

NASHVILLE, TN –MCA Nashville singer-songwriter Kip Moore will release his new single, “Beer Money,” on July 9.

The song is the follow-up to his gold-certified No. 1 hit, ‘Somethin’ ‘Bout a Truck,” which he will perform on NBC’s Today on July 4. The song spent two weeks atop the BillboardHot Country Songs Chart and the Mediabase/Country Aircheck chart.

Moore had a hand in writing every song on Up All Night, his debut album, including his new single, which he co-wrote with Blair Daly and Troy Verges.

“Blair Daly said, ‘I’ve got this title ‘Beer Money,’ but I don’t know exactly what to do with it,’” Moore recalls. “We laughed and joked around about the idea. I know where I grew up in South Georgia, nobody had any money in high school. That is what the weekends were about: there was nowhere to go and there were no clubs, so it was all about who has the money to come up with the beer and where can we go.

“It was the same thing in college: you are holding out spending money on food so that you’ve got enough money that weekend to go to the beer store and have a good time. I think that is the way small-town America still is everywhere. Until you get a certain age and start working a job that pays you some money, you are just trying to keep that last little bit of money together to have some beer money for the weekend.

“It’s an easy-going feel-good song for people who are sitting in that town with nothing to do. That is the town that I grew up in,” says Moore, who was raised in Tifton, Ga., near the Florida line. “There was nothing to do, nothing to choose from, and a lot of times you felt like banging your fist against the wall, and the only release that you had was the weekend to go have a good time with your friends and your girlfriend, and you wanted to go and have some beers. That is what the song is. It’s just a feel-good release of that small-town America life and what it’s like growing up.”    

Moore continues to receive accolades for his debut album. Entertainment Weekly recently named him one of five Music Summer Breakouts in its issue called “Your Summer Must List.”  “The Georgia native has crashed the country charts with ‘Somethin’ ‘Bout a Truck.’ And his debut, Up All Night, crackles with fresh energy—thanks in part to his evocative rasp, which works equally well on summery kick-back jams like ‘Truck’ and romantic, arena-ready anthems,” the magazine says.

It’s pretty much guaranteed that a country singer born at the dawn of the ‘80s will have a musical back story that includes exposure to mom and dad’s record collection—and we’re talking LPs of a much more recent vintage than Roy Acuff. For Kip Moore, that meant the giants of heartland rock: Springsteen, Seeger and Petty. The fact that he grew up with that music around, and that his story has a thoroughly contemporary quality — small town Georgia boy went off to college and lived a surfer’s fantasy of bumming around Hawaii before moving to Nashville to get serious about music — is what makes the songs on his debut album, Up All Night,feel so familiar.

I know you’ve identified particular singer-songwriters like Bruce Springsteen as artists that really made an impression on you growing up. You’ve pointed out that if they were just getting started today, they would be considered country. What, to you ear, has shifted?

I just think that’s the way music goes. I think music is always expanding. I just think that it touches a much more broad spectrum nowadays. There’s a lot more that’s accepted, whereas in the old days it was more of one kind of thing. You take Webb Pierce from the ‘40s. When Johnny Cash and Waylon and them came through, I’m sure they were looked at as, ‘This isn’t country.’ Then there’s the next wave, and people say, ‘Well, that’s not country.’ Music is always progressing. I think those people I grew up loving, the Bob Segers, they’re storytellers, which is what this music is.
