Every time it starts on the CD, I skip it. Country music does touch the depths of ones soul. Some days I can't even turn on country music. Since that night, Dad only ask for CD's that have that a song that touchs the soul. Sugarland's song Joey – hits way to close. No matter who you lose in your life you ask your self the same question – all what ifs. Questions that I hope one day he can answer for me. Until then we try to live each day for him. Some day are better then others, some days you don't know what to do with your self. I have the best support anyone could even or should need in any lifetimes. Joey, my brother, left us with the greats group of friends, they are my family. Sugarland really hit the nail on the head with "Joey" and even if I can't listen to the song, I know that somewhere it has helped heal a little piece of my broken heart. 8/19/2009 10:44 PM (GMT-04:00)
Thank you from the bottom of my heart for writing, recording, and releasing to the radio the song "Joey". I met a boy (he was 12yrs old) when I was 16 yrs old on the bank of the James River. He was in love with me and followed me around pretty much everywhere I went. We only saw each other on the weekends in the summer time. Years came and went. We lost contact with each other but, every now and then we would see each other and hang out. This happened every few years until finally he was 21 and I was 25. He talked me into going on a date, and before long I was in love with him. He lived in Midlothian, VA and I lived in Currituck, NC which is about two in a half hours apart. We continued to date for a year, he proposed, and we got married Aug 2005. He drew our house plans and then built our beautiful home! We moved in Jan. 2008. Apr 2008, I went on a retreat with women from my church and my mom. Meanwhile, my husband went out with his friends. He was on his way home late Friday night/early Saturday morning; when he ran off the road, hit the ditch bank, and went through the windshield landing into the field to the right. You see, if my husband would have followed the road to the left he may still be alive. Instead, he was laying in the dark, cold, damp wheat field. They said he died instantly with blunt trauma to the head. I can tell you that doesn't make me feel any better. I still have to go home alone. Oh, did i tell you my husband's name? Yeah, it's Joey. You see before I heard this song all those thoughts were already going through my mind. So thank you so much for writing, recording, and rocking out my thoughts. It means more than you'll probably ever know. Katie Hearn Knotts Island, NC ps I'm deeply sorry for your loss as well! 8/3/2009 9:38 PM (GMT-04:00)
I have to write and tell you a true story. On April 14 th 2008 my nephew Joey died. He was only 22yrs old. He has a beautaful family He was engaged to be married and he has a little boy who is now 2 and a little girl who is 8 months. Joey never saw his little girl, his fiance was still pregnant. Joey was having hard times he worked very hard he was having terrible mood swings and when his mom took him to the doctor they found out he was diabetic. Joey had to start taking medicine to keep him under control. Joey went to classes to learn and understand about being a diatbetic. He seemed to always get flustered. As time went on he stopped taking his meds and thought every thing was ok. He had a fight with his fiance and he had a few beers he left to get away for awhile and his fiance did not want him to go alone so she hurried and got into the car with him. They still continued to argue. Joey stopped the car and I beleive with him not thinking clearly jumped over the bridge, he was screaming for help he knew what he had done wasn't right. The car behind them called 911 right away and the firemen and the police came right away. They saw Joey floating down the river and then they lost him.Family, friends, neighbors and even strangers helped everyday to find Joey. One day 2 weeks later a person driving a 4 wheeler found Joey hanging on a tree. We were releaved that we found our Joey but devitstated. My brother and his wife (Joey's parents) heard your song and just broke down. When I listened to your song I thought his fiance wrote you and told you our story. It seems like you wrote this beautiful song for us. There are no more words that can be said than what you wrote about Joey. One day I hope that my family can meet you and thank you personally for the beautaful song that you sang. This will alway be our #1 song it will stay with us in our hearts forever!!!!! God Bless you and Thank You..7/27/2009 4:55 PM (GMT-04:00)
