I've always loved this song back in the 90's which was by vertical horizon. I know many might know that, but Gary Allan brought new feelings to the song, with as much emotion as Vertical Horizon has. I love that he kept it almost as same as the orignal, just a bit of country added to it. I find it not only maintain the songs state, but it shows respect to the original artist as well. Not like some of those other songs out there where they complete chage the way the song is and most of the time not a big hit. But I believe this song will be a big hit..Can anyone say "Blue" by Leeann Rimes? Great song, her #1 debut hit. It wasn't her original song, nor did she write it, however she respected the original artist to sing it as if they would. So whatever everyone else is saying about Gary Allan not writing the song, who cares if he wrote it or not. The point is it sounds good, and all we want out of music, is for it to sound good.5/27/2006 7:51 PM (GMT-04:00)
Most country fans DO realize that Gary Allan did not write this song. In fact, most of us know that this tune was indeed a hit for Vertical Horizon back in 1999. Apparently we country fans “are not the brightest bulbs on the tree” when in fact, that sentence makes no sense whatsoever. Since when do light bulbs grow on trees? Props to Matthew Scannell of Vertical Horizon for writing such a lovely song. It not only connected with pop/rock fans of the late 90’s, but also touched the heart of a gifted country singer-songwriter who was grieving the death of his wife. I read somewhere that after many attempts to write a song that truly expressed the pain he was going through, he remembered the lyrics of this song and knew it said everything he couldn’t quite put into words himself. A song is a great song when it touches people regardless of time, genre or artist.4/20/2006 9:58 PM (GMT-04:00)
I know all the biscuits on here would like to think that he wrote this song but it's a cheap rip-off of the original song from Vertical Horizon WRITTEN in 1999 off of the CD Everything You Want. Go ahead...look it up. Just like all recent country "music" it's ripped off of another artist who act actually has enough talent to write good songs. I know you country fans are not the brightest bulbs on the tree but the least you could do is broaden your horizons a little and get your facts straight. 4/6/2006 5:43 PM (GMT-04:00)
