There’s a first time for everything,” Josh Turner said from the stage Thursday night (July 12) at the Best Buy Theater in New York City. And for the “Time Is Love” singer, the milestone in question was his first-ever concert in the Big Apple. As he readily admitted to the sold-out crowd, it took him an especially long time to get there: “I signed my contract with MCA Nashville in 2001,” Josh recalled with a smile. Eleven years later, he finally found himself in Times Square, promoting his new No. 1 album Punching Bag with a knockout performance, a high-profile stop on his Cracker Barrel-sponsored tour.
But Josh’s biggest surprise may have come Wednesday morning, the day before he took the stage at the Best Buy Theater. During an appearance on ABC’s Good Morning America, co-hosts Robin Roberts and Josh Elliott presented an unsuspecting Josh with a plaque honoring his more than 12 million units sold.
