BILLY CURRINGTON SINGLE “PRETTY GOOD AT DRINKIN’ BEER” BECOMES
FASTEST-RISING & BIGGEST-SELLING FIRST WEEK
DIGITAL SINGLE OF CAREER
NASHVILLE, TN – Mercury Nashville singer/songwriter Billy Currington’s single “Pretty Good At Drinkin’ Beer”, written by Troy Jones and produced by Carson Chamberlain and Currington, is the fastest-rising and biggest-selling, first week digital single of his career to date tallying over 21k track sales – a 42% increase from his previous best with “Don’t”. ‘Beer’ is the debut single from Currington’s forthcoming fourth album due out September.
Chamberlain has produced all of Currington’s previous albums, including the last project Little Bit Of Everything which they co-produced. Everything delivered three consecutive #1 singles, “Don’t”, “People Are Crazy” and “That’s How Country Boys Roll”. “People Are Crazy” went on to garner Grammy (“Male Country Vocal Performance”, “Best Country Song”), Country Music Association (“Single”, “Song”, “Video of the Year”) and Academy of Country Music Award (“Single”, “Song of the Year”) nominations.
Currington returns from Charleston, South Carolina this week after a two-day photo shoot for the upcoming album. He’ll be back in front of the cameras Friday in Nashville for the filming of a new video for the single and Saturday night when he performs at LP Field for CMA Music Fest.
Currington’s ‘03 self-titled debut album spawned the powerful Top 10 hit “Walk A Little Straighter” and the Top 5 smash “I Got A Feelin’”. Then superstar Shania Twain heard the Georgia native’s soulful voice and chose him for the hit duet “Party for Two”. On his second and platinum-certified album Doin’ Somethin’ Right, Currington delivered an even more mature sound of blues-tinged country songs including #1 hits “Good Directions” and “Must Be Doin’ Somethin’ Right”. The latter earned him a CMT Music Award buckle in ’06 for “Hottest Video of the Year”. His third album Little Bit Of Everything was released Fall of ’08 and garnered Currington his third, fourth and fifth #1 singles for “Don’t”, “People Are Crazy” and “That’s How Country Boys Roll”, which he co-wrote. He’s co-written 19 tracks off his trio of albums, been chosen for People magazine’s “Sexiest Men” issue and has performed on The Late Show with David Letterman, The Tonight Show with Jay Leno, Good Morning America, MARTHA and The Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade. He’s toured with Brad Paisley, Sara Evans, Trace Adkins and Sugarland, and after headlining this summer he’ll tour this fall with Carrie Underwood.
