Lee Ann Womack filled in for an ailing Julianne Hough at the June 6th opening of the Dallas Cowboys Stadium, along with label-mate George Strait. The Dallas Morning News summed up her performance:
Speaking of that familiar, homey feeling, native Texan Lee Ann Womack, who at the last minute
filled in for Hough, was in her element. In a short 35 minutes, she beautifully sang one
traditional country song after the other, from her absorbing country single "Solitary Thinkin'." to
the fiery heartland rocker "Ashes By Now." In between, the emotive vocalist was completely
transcendent during "Last Call" and her signature tune, "I Hope You Dance."
Cowboy Stadium Opening
I was there and she was GREAT!!!!!! What a fabulous surprise when she came out instead of the talentless hack who was supposed to open. Like Lee Ann said that day..."It's only fitting for a Texan to open the new Cowboy Stadium." Amen. She was a healthy dose of smooth, pure country that is really missing from today's pop-country music scene.
