Nery from Orlando, FL and JulianneHough.com site member was in the audience on May 20th when the Season 6 Finale aired live. Here's her account of the win and her trip!
“Nery, you are the winner! You just won a trip to the Dancing with the Stars Finale in Hollywood, California!” When I heard that on my voicemail, my jaw hit the floor. Me, a winner? I’ve never won anything in my life! Before I called back Universal Music Group in Nashville, I called my Husband to see if he could get the days off, of course he couldn’t! However, he did say “take one of your friends and go! Don’t miss out on this opportunity,” music to my ears!!! I called my friend Yara and after ten minutes of screaming on the phone “We’re going to Hollywood, We’re going to Hollywood!” I proceeded to make one of the best calls of my life. I called Universal Music Group and said "I accept my prize!” UMG Nashville explained how they were going to book the flight and how they made reservations for Yara and me at the Hollywood Roosevelt Hotel… “I’m sorry did you just say the Roosevelt Hotel? ” THIS CAN’T BE REAL! I was floored. That’s a well-known Hollywood hot spot and I was going to be staying there! A couple days before we left Ashlee Simpson had her bachelorette party there…that’s when I knew; this trip was going to be awesome! We are huge fans of Dancing with the Stars and just knowing that we were going to see the show live in California was surreal.
When we arrived to Hollywood it was just amazing! We arrived Monday night (May 19th) drove around and walked the Hollywood strip. It must admit Hollywood Blvd., was not as we imagined and maybe a bit scary at night, but who cares?! We’re in Hollywood! We went back to our hotel to visit the famous Tropicana Bar/Pool but we were informed that it was closed due to an exclusive Sky Vodka party and the following night it was going to be closed because they were filming a movie. A bit of a bummer, but you know whenever we saw that famous pool in an upcoming movie, Yara and I are going to simultaneously yell “We were there!!”
Tuesday was finally here, DWTS Finale day! After a long morning of sight seeing and locating the studios (to make sure we didn’t get lost before the show) we went back to our hotel to try to catch a glimpse of E!News and see what we missed from Monday’s episode of DWTS. Once we were up to date we got all glammed up and ready to go! Upon arriving to the studios we were told that we had to enter through the VIP gate. That’s right I said “VIP”gate. Upon arriving and giving our names we stood there while the guard looked down the list looking for our names and then the hear set it. “Oh no, what if our names aren’t there?!” Just as the panic was about to set it I heard those great words “You’re all set, enjoy the show!” Oh wow! It was really happening! When we entered to the set, we were almost brought to tears. We were really there! We were going to see the show live! There they were…our seats with our names printed big and bold. We made it! Seeing the show at home on your television really doesn’t do the show or the dancing justice. The show was amazing, and exceeded our expectations. The whole experience is one we will never forget. The only thing that would’ve topped this trip is if we were able to thank Julianne Hough in person.
